In The Outworlds War Torrent, unlikely heroes are on a collision course with destiny amidst a desperate fight against radical evil...
Early in the twenty-fourth century, human pioneers on the fringe of Earth's interstellar colonial frontier make a profound discovery The first evidence of intelligent alien life.
But the discovery now haunts humanity's past. Although the explorers judge the ancient alien species of space-faring reptilians, known as Angorgals, to be extinct, they also find evidence the Angorgals had reached Earth many centuries ago and were far more than mere visitors...
When a surprise Sekkalan attack in the distant Sceytera System against Mokisia destroys a fragile peace between these two Angorgal subsects, a teenaged soldier-priest in training, Zy K'olt, will struggle with doubt, fear, and acceptance of his mysterious spiritual gifts in a quest to confront the evil Sekkalan threat. At the same time, the invasion shatters Major Krajenar Attazahal's reputation as a successful Mokisiaan intelligence officer, driving her down a desperate path of redemption to the very edge of survival in order to defend her home.
Under siege, the Mokisiaans soon learn their alienated brethren have launched both a sinister and technologically superior offensive, one that threatens to inflict more than just military defeat upon them. The Sekkalan war is the start of a new interstellar crusade orchestrated by evil ethereal entities - the Ruuksauro - whose intent is radical genetic purification of the galaxy, and Earth's Stone Age humans are their next target.

There is a pretty wide range of sci fi out there and I read across the whole spectrum. I find complex alien sci fi to be some of the most interesting because the author can create entire species, worlds and political systems in their stories. Author Daniel P. Douglas' "The Outworlds: War Torrent" is one of the best sci fi reads that have run across this year. Zy was written as an incredibly strong, non-human, lead character and the conflicts in the story were both complex and believable. This was a wonderful mix of fantasy, adventure, politics, battle, and so much more and I found it to be a very satisfying read.Product details

The Outworlds War Torrent eBook Daniel P Douglas Reviews
I loved this book. It was so alien I feared it would be a bore to read, but I finished in a few hours. Aliens are fighting their brohers influenced by other races and gods. Then they find earth. I will not say too much, but I am looking forward to the next serial. That is a bit sad though. I prefer a full novel.
I got a copy of this book from Story Cartel to review.
This science fiction story is well thought out with the story line flowing from beginning to end. The main characters are well developed and believable - which makes it easy and enjoyable to follow the story. It was fun watching how modern issues - such as AI - are used. This is a great read.
I totally agree with the previous reviewers on the actual story, the well-written background, the spirit that young Zy displays, and (important to me) the reasonably pronounceable alien names. -)
However, the first two paragraphs in the description describe something of utter insignificance in this story and are misleading. If you expect a lot of human dialog or an explanation of something that occurred deep in human history, you'll be very disappointed. I'm fairly sure that the hints in those two paragraphs refer to events that will take place in Book 2, which I will definitely purchase.
It was pretty good. I liked the story line.
Was this a book or short interconnected stories? I'm not sure, but it was just okay whatever it was. It fell short to me.
This is a fascinating and enjoyable read. The sci-fi setting and questions raised by the sophisticated storyline make for a compelling experience and make me look forward to the next book in the series. This is solid military and metaphysical sci fi and handled by a less capable writer would have been one dimensional. Douglas is intelligent, literary, and entertaining in War Torrent. A must-read for anyone interested in fresh, new voice, and new, exciting sci-fi adventure story.
I really enjoyed this book! It has the perfect mixture of science fiction and action with a futuristic setting. It jumps right into the storyline from the very beginning and the length is perfect for reading in one sitting. For me to enjoy a sci-fi novel, it has to be done right. I find sometimes they can be hard to follow and too intricate with aliens and other worlds that it starts to get confusing. This book is anything but that--Douglas did a great job. I loved Zy's character as well--he is strong, a great leader, and anything but human. Overall, really great read!
